چکیده

This paper evaluates several recent efforts to interpret the work of Nāgārjuna through the lens of modern symbolic logic. An attempt is made to uncover the premises that justify the use of symbolic logic for this purpose. This is accomplished through a discussion of (1) the historical origins of those premises in the Indian and Tibetan traditions, and (2) how such assumptions prejudice our understanding of Nāgārjuna’s insistence that he has no proposition (pratijñā). Finally, the paper sets forth an alternative interpretation that takes into account the literary dimensions of Nāgārjuna’s writing.

A Geometry Preserving Kernel over Riemannian Manifolds

Abstract- Kernel trick and projection to tangent spaces are two choices for linearizing the data points lying on Riemannian manifolds. These approaches are used to provide the prerequisites for applying standard machine learning methods on Riemannian manifolds. Classical kernels implicitly project data to high dimensional feature space without considering the intrinsic geometry of data points. ...

ILU and IUL factorizations obtained from forward and backward factored approximate inverse algorithms

In this paper‎, ‎an efficient dropping criterion has been used to compute the IUL factorization obtained from Backward Factored APproximate INVerse (BFAPINV) and ILU factorization obtained from Forward Factored APproximate INVerse (FFAPINV) algorithms‎. ‎We use different drop tolerance parameters to compute the preconditioners‎. ‎To study the effect of such a dropping on the quality of the ILU ...

Integrable Open Spin Chains and the Doubling Trick in N = 2 SYM with Fundamental Matter

We demonstrate that the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix in N = 2 SYMwith a single chiral hypermultiplet of fundamental matter, which is dual to AdS5×S with a D7-brane filling AdS5 and wrapped around an S 3 in the S5, is an integrable open spin chain Hamiltonian. We also use the doubling trick to relate these open spin chains to closed spin chains in pureN = 4 SYM. By using the AdS/CFT corre...

Investigating the Effect of Joint Geometry of the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Process on the Residual Stress and Distortion using the Finite Element Method

Although a few models have been proposed for 3D simulation of different welding processes, 2D models are still more effective in design goals, thus more popular due to the short-time analysis. In this research, replacing "time" by the "third dimension of place", the gas tungsten arc welding process was simulated by the finite element method in two dimensions and in a short time with acceptable ...

A Reed–Solomon Code Magic Trick

Richard Ehrenborg [1] has provided a nice magic trick that can be used to illustrate many properties of Hamming codes. His paper includes a set of manipulatives that can be used to implement the trick. An improved version of this Hamming code magic trick is described in a recent paper in Math Horizons [3]. In this paper, we introduce a similar magic trick that is based on a Reed–Solomon code. I...
